The Ruins

The Ruins is a new tourist spot in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, but actually a “very old” structure .

The mansion was built in the early 1900’s by the sugar baron, Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson (1865-1948) and was home to his unmarried children with his first wife, Maria Braga Lacson (+1911), a Portuguese from Macau. The mansion was the largest residential structure ever built at that time and had in it one of the finest furniture, chinaware, and decorative items, as the father of Maria Braga was a captain of a ship that sailed across Europe and Asia and would cart with him these items. One of their daughters maintained a beautiful garden of lilies in and around the 4-tiered fountain fronting the mansion, all brought in from abroad.

One of the sons supervised the construction of the mansion making certain that the A-grade mixture of concrete and its pouring was precisely followed. The mansion met its sad fate in the early part of World War II when the USAFFE (United States Armed Forces in the Far East), then guerilla fighters in the Philippines, burnt the mansion to prevent the Japanese forces from utilizing it as their headquarters. It took days of inferno to bring down the roof and the 2-inch wooden floors.

To this day, the structure still stands tall amidst sugar plantations and continues to awe both local and foreign tourists. Truly, a picture-perfect backdrop and a magnificent sight to see.

Yummy Cakes at Calea

The Calea Cake house serves probably one of the most excellent cheesecakes in Bacolod. I already tried different cheesecakes in Manila, but compares to the rich velvety texture and the simplicity of its cheesecakes. The crust or the coating of this cake, probably the only of its kind in the Philippines.

Calea is located beside L’Fisher Hotel at Lacson Street, Bacolod City and at Robinsons Place. Offers the best cakes in Bacolod City; with its tasty, yummy, delicious, mouth-watering, lip smacking, and tempting, delicious flavor of cakes: you will absolutely enjoy every bite of it.

Mambukal Mountain Resort

Its my firsttime to Mambukal Mountain Resort located at Minoyan, Murcia, Bacolod City Negros Occidental and i can say that its a great expererience because it has many beautiful sites, both made by man and by Mother Nature. The Hot Springs with sulfuric soda water is one of them.
A bath house with spa, famous to the Asian people, particularly the Japanese tourists, is supplied with hot and cold water from the springs coming from the mountain.
Known for its therapeutic treatment, people with body fatigue dip into it to relieved their stress and have relaxed.
The Mambukal Resort lies 1,200 feet or about 366 meters above sea level and serves as a gateway to the Mount Kanlaon Volcano.
The Mount Kanlaon Volcano is one of the prides of the Visayans because of its exceptional beauty.
The Mount Kanlaon is the highest mountain peak in Visayas or the Central Philippines. It has a height of 8,088 feet or about 2,465 meters and a base diameter of 30,000 meters.
It is one of the most active volcanoes in the country and is part of the Negros Volcanic Belt.
Mount Kanlaon is surrounded by volcanic peaks and several craters. It is also the host of many waterfalls such as the two waterfalls of Quipot and the Sudlon Falls.

The resort has an ideal location for viewing decks or, for more great encounters with nature, the Canopy Walk with its hanging bridges. You can also challenge yourself on the Rock Climbing Wall or the Slide for Life.
Its slopes are full of rock formations and green forests.
Truly, beautiful and very inviting to everyone who saw these place.
It is abundant of different types of tropical trees together with many variety of pines, ferns and orchids that thrive on its low-temperature climate and rich soil also known as Mambukal clay.
